Janet Hagen

Facilitator

Janet started working for HCCC in 2004 as Rabbit Buster coordinator.

Originally from an educational background. She has enjoyed the evolution of Landcare from controlling weeds and rabbits into areas of biodiversity protection, endangered species recovery, landscape restoration and sustainable farming practices.

Her main skill is networking and partnership building. Janet is on the steering committees of the Strathbogie Ranges Conservation Network, Euroa Arboretum, Granite to Goulburn Conservation Alliance, Central Victorian Biolinks and Goulburn Broken Indigenous Seedbank.

Neil van Buuren

Facilitator

Neil commenced with HCCC in 2018 after retiring from corporate life. His background is sustainability and program management within the dairy industry.

Neil has been involved in various programs including biosecurity (animal pests and weed management), soil carbon and community liaison. His skill areas include grant applications, strategic planning, assisting landholders to maximise farm sustainability and facilitating community resilience.

Pauline Roberts

Editor of TGN

Pauline has been the Editor of The Granite News since 2018 and thoroughly enjoys assembling and editing TGN for 42 weeks of the year. She is definitely of the opinion that, “there is no such thing as writers’ block” and would like to thank those readers who take the time to provide articles, photos, feedback or best wishes. All are very much appreciated.

The Landcare facilitator’s primary role is to support the identification, planning and development of on-ground natural resource management projects in relation to biodiversity and climate.

Including to:

Assist HCCC to develop and review their action/strategic plans, and to ensure these plans reflect the contemporary strategic directions and challenges facing Victoria’s environment, including climate change.
Identify and promote grants and funding opportunities that support activities to increase the health of the environment and facilitate HCCC to apply for and secure funding for projects.
Promote and provide opportunities for broad and diverse community participation across the Hughes Creek Catchment.
Engage landholders and land managers in the adoption of best practice sustainable land management.
Facilitate information sharing, cooperation, collaboration and networking among, Landcare staff, and the broader natural resource management sector.
Build local community capacity to enable groups, networks and communities to be resilient and support HCCC to fulfil their reporting requirements in a timely manner.
